Fishel: Hanna close to hurricane strength
Hanna's approach makes conditions ripe for tornadoes across the state. The National Weather Service issued the first tornado watches Friday afternoon. Heavy rain was falling in Wake County, Rocky Mount and Roanoke Rapids, with another band of showers crossing into the southeastern part of the state.
