Girlfriend faces September trial in Wake freezer death

Posted July 20, 2011

— The long-time girlfriend of a Raleigh man found decapitated in a freezer last year will go to trial in September, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Wendy Edmond Green faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of David Ruben Green Jr., 52.

Family members reported him missing on Sept. 1, and a Wake County sheriff's investigator found David Green's body in a basement freezer on Oct. 6 during an extensive search of his Ray Road home.

Search warrants filed in the case indicate that he might have been dead since January 2009.

Wendy Green's trial date is scheduled for Sept. 12, Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens said during a routine court hearing.

The couple's children, Alexis Morgan Green, 17, and David Ruben Green III, 15, who are also charged with first-degree murder, will have their cases reviewed at another hearing this year.

Investigators say in search warrants that the children gave similar statements that implicate all three suspects “as having played active roles" in planning, carrying out and covering up the slaying.

It's unclear what led to the killing, but search warrants have indicated that Wendy Green used her boyfriend’s credit cards and asked his family for money.

This is so creepy. And to think of the times I have driven down the road they lived on, & passed his decapitated body while it was lying in the freezer! These people are nuts! She certainly needs to be away from public where she might be able to do anything else psycho.

how can you kill someone and then cut their head off and LIVE in the same house knowing his body is in the basement in a FREEZER. The 2 children's lives are ruined as well. They will never make it in society

You Know How Freezers Are After You Put Something In There You Can Never Find It Again.

She Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty.

Someone could have broken into the house and put him in there without her knowing.
