RDU-bound plane collides with another plane on Boston runway
A plane en route to Raleigh-Durham International Airport collided with another plane on a Boston runway Thursday night, according to WBZ-TV in Boston. No major injuries were reported.
Posted — UpdatedOne person complained of neck pain after Delta Flight 266's wing clipped the tail of Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 4904, according to Boston Logan International Airport spokesman Phil Orlandella. There were no other injuries.
Passenger Jay Copan, of Raleigh, told WBZ-TV that he was startled when the planes hit around 7:30 p.m.
"I was half asleep and the next thing you know, there was a bang," he said. "We were all wondering what happened, and the pilot comes on and says we've been clipped by the plane behind us."
Both planes were damaged. The RDU-bound plane had 74 passengers and three crew members on board. The other flight, which was heading to Amsterdam, had 204 passengers and 11 crew members. One of its passengers complained of neck pain, but no one was seriously hurt.
Delta released a statement saying that both aircraft have been removed from service for inspections and that passengers were being put on other planes. WBZ-TV reported that passengers were being put up in Boston hotels for the night. No other information was released.
