Police closed the All American Expressway from Fort Bragg south to Fayetteville Monday after a woman was shot shortly before 3 p.m.

Investigators said a man and woman were traveling south together on the freeway in a black GMC Yukon when they got into a minor wreck, spun out of control and landed on the median.

Police responded to the scene after a shots-fired call and found Frances Marie Del Valle Sanchez, 21, who had been shot, on the ground outside the vehicle. The man, who has been identified as a Fort Bragg solider, was in the driver's seat.

"The woman was shot, it appears, outside of the vehicle," said Fayetteville police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts. He added that the wreck seems to have taken place before the shooting.

The driver was detained for questioning. The woman was taken to the Cape Fear Valley Hospital and was listed in critical condition early Tuesday. No other details were released.

Just repeating what I'm told! LOL

JUST SAD SAD SAD,....

Little birdie said she might have shot herself.

Good thing is, if there is anything positive about this, it was not random. So it should be ok to drive on that freeway and not put everybody in a freenzy on how unsafe it is now to drive or go to Fayetteville. To take a gun away from a soldier makes no sense because he will need it. If he wanted to hurt her, he would have found another way, gun or no gun. It would be better to bring everybody home and focus on their well being, that is where things are going to get worse, however there are plenty of veterans out there that do not feel the need to shoot at their spouse, girlfriend etc. The women suffer to, so end the war.
