— A Fayetteville man accused of shooting three people at an after-hours nightclub early Sunday has committed suicide, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office announced Monday night.

Edward Gerald Fisher, 32, of 7326 Hyannis Drive, shot himself in the head, authorities said. His body was found lying near a cemetery off Tabor Church Road around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Detectives obtained warrants for Edwards’ arrest Monday afternoon on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon.

He was accused of shooting three people at 409 John B. Carter Road after a fight at the party.

The victims were Mariella Nicole Rivas, 20, of Grove View Terrace, David Wayne Robinson, 35, of Gibson Street, and Xavier Kaynon Whitted, 21, of Orbie Circle, all of Fayetteville.

All three were in serious condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Monday night.

"It’s unclear ... why the victims were found in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds, in another location other than where the party was taking place," sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Smith said in a statement.

Edwards’ body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Any update on this story? Are the injured people talking?

We've got some relatives commenting here and it could help tremendously if these victims could ID the shooter.

Well, to everyone that is commenting on this topic, the ACCUSED was not a bad person. You only know what the news is telling you...If you were not there then you really shouldn't have anything to say about either of the situations because lets just remember that he was ACCUSED and not convicted...So, you really don't know what happened...Everything isn't always what it seems and if you don't hear both sides which is impossible, you can't really comment on the situation...His life was just as valuable as yours or mine...

Where they live and where this happened are two different things. Please take their names out, at least for the safety of the folks (particularly children) that may also live @ those addresses. Wildcat....your reasoning defies logic.

It would have been sufficient to say they were from Fayetteville. Now other criminals know these people are not home.

This is a way of showing NC how the leaders waste money. He chose suicide, end of story; bury him is all that is needed.
