Two indicted in Domino's manager's beating death

Travis Melton Sherman, 21, and Nicho D'Angelo Bowers, 21, both of 1916 Indianwood Court in Raleigh, are charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of Kenneth Edward Ring.

Bowers was also indicted on one count of accessory after the fact to murder.

Ring, 24, was attacked during a Jan. 9, 2010, robbery at the Domino's Pizza store on Widewaters Parkway in Knightdale, where he worked. He died two days later.

No trial date has been set.

Police also charged a Wilmington man, Christopher Thomas, with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, but prosecutors dropped the charges Friday after further investigation showed there wasn’t evidence to show he was there at the time of the attack.

According to court records, Thomas, 34, still faces a felony charge of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

“It is a good step in the right direction,” Ring’s father, Dan Ring, said in a statement Wednesday. “We do have a long way to go before this will be over.”
