— Wake County sheriff's deputies were still at the scene of a shooting just outside Apex Sunday night.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison confirmed that three people were inside the house at 4224 Brook Cross Drive when gunfire erupted around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Wake County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Phyllis Stephens said the shooting was "not a random act," but declined to comment on possible suspects or motives.

Donna Evans, 53, was killed in the shooting, and John Evans, 67, was wounded and was taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in critical condition Monday.

Was this yet another sad example of how often the "gun in the house for protection' is actually used AGAINST you, fredk

Aren't you something... yeah. I am a woman and I can promise you one thing, if you come to my house and I have to pull my gun, it will not be because of an argument getting heated. You do NOT need a gun BTW.
