— A man dubbed the "Repeat Robber" attempted to rob the BB&T Bank, 4424 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh, on Monday afternoon, the FBI said.

The suspect produced a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was harmed, authorities said.

Police are investigating a car that crashed into a home not far from the bank robbery. A suspect was detained, but police are not sure there is any connection.

Authorities said that including Monday's robbery, the Repeat Robber has robbed 11 banks throughout Raleigh, Durham, Cary Chapel Hill and Zebulon. Ten of those robberies have occurred in the past 21 days.

  • Wachovia Bank at 1701 N. Harrison Ave. in Cary on Oct. 8

In none of the robberies have there been reports of a weapon being displayed or anyone getting hurt.

Authorities have not linked the Repeat Robber to a robbery at the RBC Bank at 2414 Wycliff Road, which occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Monday.

The North Carolina Bankers Association is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone responsible for robbing a bank in North Carolina.

"I have an idea. How about they pass a law stating customers MUST remove hats and sunglasses before entering a bank. Don't you think that would cut down on the robberies?" TeresaBee

I really hope you posted this with sarcasm, otherwise you really think a person robbing a bank is going to be in compliance with the bank's dress code?

"Why can't they use facial pattern recognition software and compare his face photo to that of the photo's in the state database for drivers licenses. The technology exists, why is it not being used?????" BigUNCFan

If detective had magic computers like on CSI, which is where I'm guessing you got this idea, don't you think it would occur to them to use it? And you are also assuming that a serial bank robber is in compliance with DMV regulations to have a driver's license.

Common_sense my credit union does not even have tellers in the lobby, you go into a vestibule and talk to them by phone. It's like The Jetsons.

There will come a day when our banks and its employees will be encased behind bullet proof and blast proof glass and encased behind steel walls. So who ever is in designing such and building such things, here is your money maker.

The writing is just terrible. Like many have said, the title says attempt, but the article says he left with an undisclosed amount of money. I think I saw that they retreived some of the money, or maybe it was all.

I don't think it is an inside job, he has mostly robbed Suntrusts, the only way it could be an inside job is if itwas the same company. Who is to say he even has a car. These robberies are happening in low income areas, perfect for escape on a bus, plus he would fit right in with the crowd. Plus there is a bus stop right in Mini city accross from the BB&T.
