Warrant details activities of Triangle terrorism suspects
Confidential informants told FBI agents that the suspected ringleader in an alleged Triangle terrorism plot bought numerous weapons in November 2006 and that he and his sons traveled to the Middle East a few times in 2006 and 2007.
Posted — UpdatedDaniel Patrick Boyd, 39, his sons, Dylan Boyd, 23, and Zakariya "Zak" Boyd, 21, and four other men – Hysen Sherifi, 26, Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, 23, Ziyad Yaghi, 22, and Anes Subasic, 34 – were indicted in July 2009 on charges that they plotted to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people overseas.
Confidential informants told FBI agents that Daniel Boyd bought numerous weapons in November 2006 and that he and his sons traveled to the Middle East a few times in 2006 and 2007. Yaghi and Sherifi also traveled overseas during that time, according to the warrant.
Money changed hands between several of the men, and Daniel Boyd continually talked up the importance of engaging in jihad.
An eighth suspect, Jude Kenan Mohammad, 21, is believed to be in Pakistan. A ninth suspect, Bajram Asllani, 29, was arrested in June in Kosovo in connection with charges that he provided material support to terrorists and conspired to kill, kidnap, maim or injure persons.
Daniel Boyd and Sherifi also are charged with planning an attack on the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va.
The trial in the case is scheduled for September 2011.
