Concord police chief's daughter reported missing

Charlotte police are searching for the Valerie Hamilton, the 23-year-old daughter of Concord's police chief. Hamilton was last seen leaving a tavern with a man early Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the disappearance of the daughter of Concord's police chief.

WBTV in Charlotte reported Friday that officers were searching around the Charlotte home of Valerie Grace Hamilton Friday morning.

The 23-year-old Queens College nursing student, who is the daughter of Concord Police Chief Merl Hamilton, was last seen at Thomas Street Tavern between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A manager at the bar said Hamilton's car was still in the parking lot after she disappeared and that her purse and ID were inside, WBTV reported.

Police said Hamilton was last seen with a light-skinned, clean-shaven, white man in his mid- to late 30s with short, dark hair. He was about 165 pounds and about 5 feet 10 inches tall and was last seen wearing jeans and a T-shirt.

Hamilton is about 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 125 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a tattoo of three stars across the back of her neck.

Police were asking anyone with information on Hamilton's whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
