RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a suspect Tuesday in the shooting at four teens late Monday at the intersection of Capital and Crabtree boulevards.

Martin Perez Botello, 24, of 1019 N. Spring Garden Circle in Raleigh, is charged with murder in the death of Francisco Aurelio Kelly, 18, and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of three teenagers who were with Kelly.

Police claim they won't release the names of the other victims because of their ages, even though no law prevents them from doing so.

Police said it was not a random shooting and that Botello and the victims knew each other. They did not elaborate about a possible motive for the shootings.

In a 911 call released on Tuesday, a caller said he heard nine gunshots nearby his Raleigh home.

Johnny Vandergriff, who lived near Botello on Spring Garden Circle, said he saw his neighbor getting arrested.

"When I came back, they had him (Botello) in cuffs. I have seen the guy. I thought he was a pretty good guy,” Vandergriff said.

Botello was being held at the Wake County jail on Tuesday afternoon.
