— Raleigh police arrested a suspect Tuesday in the shooting at four teens late Monday at the intersection of Capital and Crabtree boulevards.

Martin Perez Botello, 24, of 1019 N. Spring Garden Circle in Raleigh, is charged with murder in the death of Francisco Aurelio Kelly, 18, and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of three teenagers who were with Kelly.

Police claim they won't release the names of the other victims because of their ages, even though no law prevents them from doing so.

Police said it was not a random shooting and that Botello and the victims knew each other. They did not elaborate about a possible motive for the shootings.

In a 911 call released on Tuesday, a caller said he heard nine gunshots nearby his Raleigh home.

Johnny Vandergriff, who lived near Botello on Spring Garden Circle, said he saw his neighbor getting arrested.

"When I came back, they had him (Botello) in cuffs. I have seen the guy. I thought he was a pretty good guy,” Vandergriff said.

Botello was being held at the Wake County jail on Tuesday afternoon.

whatusay...that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Obama being directly responsible for illegal immigration, yeah cause they were't coming here til Obama got to be president. Its time for the American people to realize its TOO LATE for this country. Theres too many here, better find another place you like living cause this place has turned into a dump!!!

  • Sherlock Sep 15, 2010

Who realy cares who the victims are, just the bad guy.

  • whatusay Sep 15, 2010

SuperNupe....Obama is directely responsible for illegal immigration at the present. He encourages illegals to come to this country because he offers a safe harbor for them. He sues states and sheriff's who try to deport them, or put them in jail, or ask if they are in this country illegalls.

@whatusay - Obama? Can anything happen without it being Obama's fault?

@jon2four - I think Durham has more violent crime than Raleigh. The media is not targeting Durham on murders and other violent crimes... it's because there IS more in Durham. I've lived in both Raleigh and Durham and I actually like living in Durham. I worked for the police in both cities and both have their share of crimes. When someone is murdered in Raleigh it's on the news... same thing for Durham...

Obama will probably sue Raleigh police if they asked Mr Botello if he was here illegally.

Let's hope "law enforcement" looks into the legality of those involved. With the troubles we seem to repeatedly have it's reasonable to ask.
