FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a woman's body was found Saturday inside a burned Fayetteville home.

Firefighters discovered the body after extinguishing a fire at 456 Star Lane, said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities have not released more details, including the identity of the victim.

Tanna said the fire looks suspicious but the cause remained under investigation.

An autopsy will be performed on the woman's body at the Office of the State Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill.
