Student indicted in fatal Walmart crash

Posted July 19, 2010

— A Triton High School student was indicted Monday on a second-degree murder charge in a June wreck outside a Dunn Walmart that killed his girlfriend.

Dillon Tart, 18, was surrounded by his family when he surrendered at the Harnett County Detention Center Monday afternoon.

Tart's mother, Patricia Jackson, said her son's wreck was an accident.

"It is tragic, it is just a tragic accident,” she said.

Ashley Moore, 16, a junior at Triton High School in Dunn, died in the June 4 crash. Tart, who was driving the SUV, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing the teens arguing inside the SUV at a gas station several hundred yards away and then seeing the SUV accelerate, clip two vehicles and then flip several times, hitting the front of the store.

Dunn police said video from nearby surveillance cameras confirmed witness accounts that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed.

I feel sorry for the families, and friends too! He can't remember but says " I never intended to hurt her", how do you know what you intended if you can't remember?? Plus a $50,000 bond is nothing, it should have been way more!!

I hope justice is served accordingly!

I truly feel sorry for both families involved. However, I think alot of information will be released when this goes to court. There are 10-12 cameras on top of this WALMART with multiple angles of the center isle. I think there are cameras at the gas station also. If he had a seizure I don't see how the suv could make it from the gas station to the front of the store with out being driven fairly well.

I hope that Dillion will soon admit this to himself or rather stop blaming it on a sickness that he says he has even though his mother states that his condition was not bad enough for medication. I'm sure Dillion regrets this with all his soul but the fact is it happened so now it's time to let go and admit what really happened that day and give yourself, friends, and Ashley's parents closure. The truth will set everyone FREE. Dillion you are the only one that can do this! You answer now to the law, you answer later to a higher power. Think about what you say today and make sure that it is the truth because one day you will have to answer for your actions and the sentence you receive will be nothing as easy as what you are about to experience here on earth. There will be no second chancces, or I am ready to talk now, I've changed my mind. If you are convicted of this crime you most likely will go to prison for quite a while. If they send you to prison anyway why not if this happened ov

Yall must not follow criminal cases much; they always charge someone with the max possible and usually settle on a lesser charge if it goes to court so they have something to bargain with. So don't get all bent out of shape over the charge the DA knows he will get a lesser conviction or plea!!

You are going to see more and more of this until we get tough and start giving due punishment. He thinks he can waltz away with this, and he likely will get 5 years probation if he follows his lawyers directions and cries for the jury.

How many people can have a seizure while driving AND argueing with a person and make perfect turns? NONE How many doctors in Chapel Hill are going to tell the mother to treat epilepsy with "plenty of sleep?" NONE First she said he had seizures all his life and that was how his dad died. First of all, his dad died while driving but it was his heart, not epilepsy. Now she says he started with seizures in 2007 but not under a doctors care. How many of his friends have witnessed him having a seizure? NONE that I have heard of. There is so much more to this than is being reported in this short article. Lots of his friends and school mates thought it was an accident. I am wondering what they think now. He graduated with his class. Some say he had trouble walking the stage. I was there, I didn't see any trouble, all I saw was smiles and perfect walking. I have not seen or heard any remorse. The Grand Jury has seen the evidence. Please remember the family of Ashley in your prayers.
