— A 29-year-old man died Sunday night as a result of a shooting at Harrells Raceway in Sampson County, authorities said.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the victim, Timothy McKoy of Garland, and another man argued before the assailant fired his weapon and fled the scene.

It was the second time in two months that authorities were called to the track, at 3030 Buckhorn Road.

In May, a spectator was killed in the stands and another injured by debris from a wreck.

Harrells Raceway is privately owned and isn't sanctioned by the International Hot Rod Association or regulated by the state.

A driver was killed at the same track in 1992 when he crashed into a guard rail near the finish line.

If this was a night club people would be screaming for the authorities to close it down because of the injuries.

The one doing the shooting should be shot this afternoon. After a few times people would think twice. Now we have to keep the bum up the rest of his life and pay a lawyer to defend him the rest of his life, and tie up a court on staff on his case off and on ...Its a shame we put up with this, we are forced to pay taxes for this . Its time for a change, and not the Obama kind
