DOT discusses Glenwood Avenue roadwork delays

The $1.7 million resurfacing job between Wade Avenue and Women's Club Drive was supposed to be complete this month, but workers found crumbling concrete beneath the 60-year-old roadway.

DOT leaders say it could take several more months before the roadwork is complete.

"When you start removing 10 inches of old concrete and replace it, it's no longer a resurfacing project, so it will take a bit longer," said DOT division engineer Wally Bowman.

The problem could add more than $600,000 to the total cost of the project.

Crews will begin fixing the broken foundation in a few days, engineers said. Lanes of travel will be restricted during the process. Drivers are urged to use Oberlin Road and Capital Boulevard as alternate routes.
