FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are searching for a man and woman they say have been operating a scam on Craigslist.

Investigators said that Christopher Michael Dillard, 29, and Laprecia Ancrum Lesane, 29, advertised on the website for rental apartments that they did not own and took payments from victims. At least seven people reported being defrauded.

Lesane, of of 2713 Preston Woods Lane Apt. 2, has been on the run since May.

On Friday, police identified Dillard as a suspect and said he is wanted on seven counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy.

They both have outstanding arrest warrants in multiple counties, police said. Dillard is also wanted for violating his probation in South Carolina. Online S.C. records show that he has been convicted of at least three property offenses in the state.

Police believe Lesane and Dillard might be in the Greensboro area. They were last seen driving a silver Lincoln Navigator or Aviator with an expired 30-day registration tag.

Lesane has also been known to frequent the Fayetteville and Spring Lake areas.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Lesane or Dillard should call Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
