Man, 11-year-old girl injured in shooting near Fayetteville

An 11-year-old girl and a man were wounded in a shooting in a small town east of Fayetteville Friday night, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

STEDMAN, N.C. — An 11-year-old girl and a man were wounded in a shooting in a small town east of Fayetteville Friday night.

The man and girl were struck by gunfire at 717 Mill Bay St. in Stedman around 10 p.m., said Debbie Tanna, spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

The girl was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. An update on her condition was unavailable. The man was treated for a superficial gunshot wound at a nearby fire station, Tanna said. Their identities were not released.

No suspects have been identified. Tanna said that investigators are working to piece together details of the shooting to determine what happened and who was involved.
