A North Carolina Amber Alert was issued and canceled on Wednesday for a missing 11-year-old girl.

Authorities said Alexis Cartwright was found with her father, Lemuel Cartwright, in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy in Manning, S.C. around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Lemuel Cartwright, 55, was taken into custody. He faces charges of abduction and child neglect. Officials said he will be held on a federal warrant and will appear in federal court on Thursday.

Alexis and her family are from Bath, N.C.

Alexis was in good condition, police said. The North Carolina Department of Social Services is currently in the process of making arrangements for her return home.

I am glad that she was found okay. Diabetes is nothing to play around with.

She has been found safe and the Amber Alert is canceled. She is a minor. Why is WRAL still posting her photo? Let the child be.

Yes, she's 11. Different children mature at different rates. My 15 year old gets mistaken for 18 year old. Anyway, the mother didn't have custody of this child either. DSS of Beaufort County does. She has Type I Diabetes (called Juvenile depending on the age developed) and according to other sites, she is somewhat rebellious and I can really understand that. It's hard to be going through puberty and add diabetes to that and it can be really bad. The hospital she was is deals with chronic illnesses and also psychiatric/psychological/emotional problems. And, going out on a limb, I would be willing to bet she was "committed" there as opposed to "admitted" there. I feel for her daddy. She probably begged him to take her out of there and he did. I don't think he should be charged with a federal offense. I think they all need some counseling and some help.

Prayers have been answered.Glad she has been found and that she is safe.

Glad the girl is safe!! Are you sure she's just 11, though? She looks like she's 15 or 16. (I know that doesn't have anything to do with it.....I'm just wondering.)
