WILSON, N.C. — Wilson County Sheriff's Office said that investigators have found and are talking to a driver who witnessed a murder-suicide that left three people dead Wednesday morning.

Investigators say that Paola Aguilera Ayala, 24, and her boyfriend, Miguel G. Guerra, were shot to death in the 4200 block of Iroquois Road by her former boyfriend, whose name hasn't been released.

Immediately after the shooting, investigators said they were looking for a 1997 or 1998 royal blue Dodge truck with N.C. tag YSN-6247 that the ex-boyfriend and another person drove to Aguilera's house shortly after she returned from work.

Maj. John Farmer said Thursday that investigators had found a commercial vehicle associated with the case and were interviewing its driver. The person, whose identity hasn't been released, is being treated only as a witness, Farmer said.

Neighbors who called 911 said they heard screaming, followed by gunshots, then a vehicle driving away.

"I heard someone screaming and hollering, then I heard three gunshots, and then I heard a vehicle crank up and take off," a man told 911 dispatchers.
A female 911 caller said she heard gun shots, then saw two bodies lying near her back yard when she looked outside later.

"It looked like a girl and a guy. I see blood on the girl, but I don't see nothing on the guy," she said.

The male 911 caller said he had checked the victims' pulse but they were already dead.

Investigators said that the former couple had a history of reported domestic violence, including accusations of rape, and that Aguilera had tried to get a restraining order against her former boyfriend last year but never followed through. The domestic violence began when she started dating her new boyfriend, authorities said.

Ayala had four children, including three with her former boyfriend. None was home at the time of the shooting.
