RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a man in connection with a brothel bust Wednesday.

Investigators raided 1508 Fayetteville St. after receiving complaints about suspected illegal activity at the home.

According to a search warrant, the house had been under surveillance for three days.

Through an informant and other observations, investigators said they determined the house was being used for prostitution. The informant told police at least two women were working inside the house.

Charlene Crews, who lives next door, said she was relieved to hear that police shut down the alleged brothel.

“It will make my dogs be quiet at nighttime around here, (and) we can get some sleep,” Crews said. “We could hear the car doors, and cars going in and out all through the night.”

Police seized a number of items from the home, including condoms, a pornography magazine, a revolver and bullets, according to the search warrant.

Amilca Santos, 38, was charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of prostitution. He was being held Wednesday in the Wake County jail without bond.
