RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police increased the charges Friday against a man who allegedly caused a fatal accident.

Aleksey Glazunov, 24, of 3521 Piedmont Drive, was passing another vehicle on Skycrest Drive Dec. 2 when he lost control and slammed head-on into a car being driven by Teresa Bagley Weintraub, police said.

Weintraub, 57, was on her way to work at Duke Raleigh Hospital when she died, police said.

Police filed a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Glazunov Friday. He had originally been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and aggressive driving, offenses that carry a maximum penalty of five months in jail.

Glazunov's criminal record shows a history of speeding violations.

Glazunov apologized to Weintraub's family after the wreck, but has declined to discuss the case further. He was re-arrested Friday and released on $50,000 bond.
