RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have made have arrested a suspect in the murder of Jurgen Dietmar Cheston this past August.

Manuel Salvador Zamora Diaz, 23, was charged with murder on Wednesday. He was being transported from the main police station to the Wake Count jail.

Officers making a welfare check found the body of Cheston, 48, inside his home at 2700 Westhampton Place around 6 p.m. Aug. 21.

Authorities have not released a cause of death or said how long they believe Cheston could have been dead.

Officers found Cheston's pickup truck, a dark blue 2001 Ford Ranger, about three miles away in the 3800 block of Brentwood Road, Sughrue said. The license tag had been removed from the truck.

Neighbors said that Cheston, a federal grants manager for the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, lived alone and usually kept to himself. It was not uncommon for them to go without seeing him, they said.
