Posted September 13, 2009

— A construction worker died Sunday afternoon after a wall collapsed at Precision Tune Auto Care in Raleigh and killed him, according to police.

The worker, whose name was not released, was working with a crew to take down a wall at 4808 Atlantic Ave. when the wall collapsed around 1:30 p.m.

The crew was from DanCo Builders Inc., according to Kevin Majoy, operations manager for Precision Auto Care. The store was closed and no customers were there at the time of the accident, he said.

The Department of Labor is investigating.

I don"t know this to be the case here but from past experience, this will happen more and more often as time goes by.No one can understand each other on construction sites anymore.you got to walk quarter mile to find english speaking man or woman. Can you imagine how they are being built?

I know they all ready have codes and that is Not an Osha issue. It's up to the town inspectors and they inspect every site in every phase of the job.

I feel bad for the guy's family. My husband works in construction and these kinds of stories hit home...

ncguy - they do have codes its just osha can't be at EVERY construction site. That's why companies hire general contractors, but obviously he wasnt wern't doing their job.

Same thing happened in Cary when they were building a gym.

Free standing walls without any side should have a more strict code!
