— A Littleton woman faces charges in the accidental shooting of her 3-year-old daughter late last month, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kisha B. Harper, 37, of 128 Hickey Hill Drive, was charged Friday with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Harper turned herself in to authorities.

Harper’s bond was set at $5,000.

The child was shot in the abdomen by a single bullet in her home on Aug. 23. She remains in critical condition.

Investigators said she was home with both of her parents at the time, but declined to comment on specifics of how it happened.

The child’s name was not released and authorities have not said which hospital she is being treated at.

Such a sad story. It's unfortunate that this happens way too much. I'm sure the Mother and Father are suffering. My granddaughter is 3 and I cannot imagine the trauma that little girl must be having. Phsyical as well as emotional. God Bless them all.

"why don't they get rid of guns"

Do you seriously believe that will stop crime? It would stop some accidents from happening. But it won't stop most crime. Good legal people wouldn't have guns. But criminals would always have their guns, and be able to get them on the black market. If the criminals knew you didn't have a gun, their crime would increase. Some people don't think when they speak.

Accidents happen. Of course its really not an accident when you don't properly handle a firearm. I hate it for the Mom and child.
