Zebulon teacher charged with indecent liberties with student

Raleigh, N.C. — A Wake County elementary school teacher is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student.

George Christ Johnson, 60, of 1794 Ravenwing Drive, Fuquay-Varina, was charged Wednesday with two counts each of taking indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student by teacher, according to arrest warrants.

Johnson was a first-grade teacher at Wakelon Elementary at 8921 Pippin Road in Zebulon, according to the school's Web site.

The charges stem from two incidents where improper contact allegedly occurred between Johnson and a 7-year-old girl while on school property.

The school district says a parent first complained to an administrator about Johnson, then law enforcement was called to investigate the alleged May 8 offenses.

Johnson, who had been a teacher in Wake County since 2007, was placed on paid administrative leave while police investigated the claim, said Michael Evans, a school district spokesman. Johnson resigned from the school on June 12.

Johnson was released on bond Thursday.

Johnson is the tenth school employee accused of sexual charges in the WRAL viewing area since January of last year.

Parents really don't watch their young children like they should. Parents are too busy for that and they when danger lurks and steals their hild then they holler like a wolf. Parents be more responsible and watch your children. Its your job. If you cannot do that, then I guess you do not deserve to have them in your life. Sad but true. I am tired of seeing stuff life this when parents can put a stop to this.

Lufkin is in Apex, smack dab in the middle of the WRAL viewing area. My point is, why do they pick and choose and what criteria do they use? I never said anything about crimes committed by females not being reported on, that would be ludicrous.

On a slightly different subject, where is the outrage and the front page national stories about the gay pervert at Duke who was pimping his 5 year old adopted child! Where are the justice brothers (oh, yea, they are too busy trying to capitalize on MJ’s death), or the same students, staff and general community agitators that were pounding pots and pans in Durham. Selective coverage, huh?? Doesn’t fit the mold therefore it gets buried. If you want to stop racism, then stop pointing the finger in one direction and only when it fits the story they are trying to spin.

pebbles262004- Just curious...what about his picture makes it look like he would fit the profile of a child molester? I understand if this happened to your child you would be outraged and want to hurt him (as would I) but what's the point of murdering him and then you spending your life in jail without your child?
