The driver of a car involved in a wreck that killed a Raleigh high school student in May has been charged in connection with his death.

Chadius Dominick Watson, 18, of 3115 Guiding Light Road, was charged Wednesday with one count each of death by motor vehicle, a seatbelt violation and operating a vehicle with improper equipment, which police said was excessively worn tires.

Raleigh police said Watson was driving the car on May 5 when Kevin Lanier Jones, 18, of 3709 Kings Road Lane in Wendell, was killed. Four other people, including Watson, were injured.

According to the wreck report, Watson was driving south on Sunnybrook Road when his car crossed the center line, and struck another vehicle, driven by Susan Mann. She was also injured.

Jones, as well as Watson and the three other people in his car, was a senior at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. Mann, 44, of 2004 Boxholm Circle, is a nurse at the school.

This is sad, Just keep the families in your prayers.

...stallworth was drunk...

The punishment rarely fits the crime in such cases. Consider the case in the link below. This driver also had bald tires, was driving far in excess of safe speed, killed a man, his wife and son who were driving carefully in the rain to Wilson for Christmas. The driver's punishment was light, and his wreckless driving was more or less excused:

Stallworth KILLED with his car...Cleveland Browns player...and got AWAY with it!!!

Tragedy here. One life (Kevin) taken in an instant. One more life (Chadius) ruined... One way he recieving punishment is that he will live with what happened forever! The whole story is awful, pray for these families.

bad drivers cause a LOT of damage. Will we learn from them or just keep repeating their mistakes?
