Man stuffs 26 cigarette cartons down pants, flees store

Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives are searching for a man who stuffed 26 cartons of cigarettes down his pants and fled from the Lake Lynn Short Stop on May 19.

Investigators say the man entered the store at 3563 Gillespie St. around 1:15 p.m. He made his way to the manager’s office while she assisted other customers and took that opportunity to take more than $1,500 worth of tobacco.

Surveillance video shows the sman stuffing Newport cigarettes down a baggy pair of blue jeans he was wearing and walking out of the store. He left the scene in an unknown direction.

The man is black, in his mid to early 30s with a receding hairline. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a tank top with a yellow shirt draped around his neck and shoulders.

Anyone with information concerning his identity is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or make an anonymous call to our Tipsline line at 484-TIPS (8477)

Im sorry, but i have to laugh at this story. Im sorry the store owner got ripped off, but all those cartons must have made the "perp" look like Sponge Bob Square Pants!!! And exactly how fast could he have left the scene with all that shoved in places you wouldnt wants your cigs to go???

lol---what kind of pants would accomodate 56 cartons??? incredible

Anything's possible when you have that "burning desire".

Imagine that. Someone was stealing something. Surprise, surprise. I am sure he looked funny with all those smokes in his pants. Guess he didn't have "anything" in his pants to begin with and now feels like a man! LOL

at $1500.00 for 26 cartons of cigs that would equal to $57.69 per carton. Cig don't cost that much per carton yet - so what else did he have stuffed in his pants?
