Harnett County deputies charged a 17-year-old with first-degree murder on Friday, one day after a 63-year-old Erwin woman was found dead in her mobile home.

Deputies responded to 109 Buckskin Lane around 10 p.m. and found Judy Barefoot McLeod lying on the floor. Harnett County EMS declared her dead. Authorities did not release her cause of death.

On Friday, investigators arrested Larry Donnell McDougald, 17, and charged him with murder. They have not given a motive. He lived in the area, officials said.

Sheriff Larry Rollins said McLeod was killed Wednesday night, but she wasn't discovered until Thursday night when a neighbor came over to check on her.

Neighbor Patricia McNeill said she became concerned when she saw McLeod's lights on and her car gone. She then went to the front door to investigate.

"So I turned the knob ... and she was on the floor," she said.

McNeill said she's not sure how McLeod died.

Deputies later found McLeod's car in Faytetteville.

Neighbors said McLeod was divorced and had lived in the home for more than 20 years. In recent years, she had been battling breast cancer, they said. She lived alone.

His mother will know for sure now where he is act.......PRISON.

And no, I'm not racist as I am not caucasian." So only caucasians can be racist? That statement is racist in and of itself. The fact that someone took the life of someone else is all that matters here

It just shows the ignorance of the said person. Pay the person now mind. Ignorance is really bliss for some.

This happens in all races. So no pot can call the kettle black. lol If you on board would learn not to point fingers and figure out a solution, then the world can be a better place.

Life in prison for this murder. He will look absolutely pretty looking through the bars. Will the young generation ever learn.

All these comments about racism is sad. There is still white on black racism as well as black on white racism. Unfortunately, the black on white is not spoken of much. I am sick of both types. This poor woman was killed by some person who either is not taking meds regularly for his mental illness, or parents didn't want to pay for the meds, or parents are not looking after this kid properly. Bottom line is: PARENTS!!!!!
