Two people shot at Goldsboro hotel

Goldsboro police are investigating the shooting of  two employees at the Hampton Inn at 905 N. Spence Ave. during an attempted robbery of the hotel’s front desk Thursday morning.

Paramedics transported employees Stephen King and Amanda Justice to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. They were released a few hours later.

“They had their faces covered and one of them said, ‘Give me the money,’” King said of the suspect.

King says he asked the suspects to hold on, and he turned away. Then the suspects began shooting.

“I said, ‘Oh my God, he shot me,’” King said.

King was shot in the thigh.

As the suspects exited the hotel, they shot Justice in the lobby. The bullet grazed her leg.

Police are looking for at least three suspects.

The first suspect is described as a black woman, possibly pregnant, in her early 20s, around 5-foot-2 and 150 pounds. She was wearing a white short-sleeve top with a hood and sunglasses.

The second suspect is described as a black man, 18-23 years old, around 5-foot-8 , 120-135 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a bandanna.

The third suspect is described as a black man wearing a white do-rag, jeans, a blue and white shirt with hair either in cornrows or braids.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or Investigator Dwayne E. Dean at 919-580-4211.

I worked in hotel management for several years. SuFi-of-Sanford is correct, little cash is on hand at hotels. tbone0918, unfortunately most managers overlook security for their employees. Installing security cameras is a huge deterrent.

Oh I hate to hear this. My son works at a Hilton Garden Inn as a night auditor. They lock the doors at 10 or 11 every night, but like you say, people come and go all night long. I can't understand people killing or wounding people who are just trying to make a living.

No wonder people are arming themselves: drifting rogues and a tyranical government

There is probably very little "security" in these hotels as people are in and out all the time - so it would be a prime target I would think - many times the desk is left unattended and people don't need the impetus of $$ to rob and kill people - they do it just for fun or because they're drugged up...........

Who robs a hotel honestly? Most all transactions are made with cards nowadays, I wouldn't think they would have much cash on hand.
