Thunderstorms possible overnight

A cluster of showers is moving across North Carolina late Wednesday. Rain, lightning and hail are possible overnight as moisture and instability come from the West.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A cluster of showers is moving across North Carolina late Wednesday. Rain, lightning and hail are possible overnight as moisture and instability come from the West.

"The best chance for a thunderstorm is near the North Carolina-Virginia border," WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.

Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s in the evening.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms midday.

“If you are outside around lunch time, keep in mind that it could start raining around that time," Fishel said.

Temperatures will be in the mid 80s Thursday. During the evening, it will be mostly cloudy with showers and storms possible.
