— Raleigh police say Alec William Esoda, 18, was drinking alcohol when he lost control and flipped his pick-up truck early Friday outside Leesville High School, critically injuring a student.

A search warrant obtained by WRAL indicates Esoda's blood alcohol content was .08, the legal limit for anyone age 21 and older.

Ian Anthony Bunn, 17, was ejected from the truck when it overturned. He suffered massive head trauma and was listed in fair condition Sunday at Rex Hospital. Esoda and other passengers weren't seriously injured.

Police had already charged Esoda with a provisional DWI, the charge for anyone underage with alcohol in their system. He was also charged with felony serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving.

" Bottom line is drunks on the rode kill and injure more than smokers." hard to someone seriously if they do not even quote correct facts.

    **driving drunk**

It never ceases to amaze me how many people get slaps on the wrist for driving; yet there is a HUGE campaign against smoking. Bottom line is drunks on the rode kill and injure more than smokers.
I still say first offenders need to serve jail time of no less then 1 yr. This kid should pay the price and hopefully never do it again.

Anyone want to guess when the lawsuite will be filed against him by the injured party......no pun intended!

swtpea...Would you have preferred that Eduardo killed somebody, or himself, to "learn a lesson"? Sounds like to me that with maturity came sense, like with most people. I think that was his point. That said, too bad the rest of us aren't as perfect as you apparently think you are.

Give this a rest.... I'm sure the kids "all invloved" know what their actions created. Let the courts work it out, not public opinion.

ah c'mon guyzzz it was only a prank cheeze I mean it could have been worse! he promises not to do it again (remember that woman who killed the father and son, she said she would never do it again as well, but that was just a fluke! Same with that wakefield student that killed his friend but you know he did it again, that was a fluke too!) some community service will do him good! AND it will look good to colleges becuz he's helping the community! Oh and shhhh... dont put this on his record... remember, we want to rehabilitate our criminals not punish them!

... $50 bucks says nothing happens.

I was glad to see that apparently the kid who got hurt is getting better. I base this on the fact that apparently his condition has been upgraded from "critical" to "serious."

I am sure our "justice" system will merely slap him on the wrist just as they have done with the other loser teenagers and adults that do these things. They go out and do it again and still are slapped on the other wrist, like the guy that killed his friends, and then got a DUI, and still driving on probation without a license....when will the courts take drinking and driving more seriously...it is the same people over and over again! This kid will learn nothing from this...he'll do it again too!
