Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police say Alec William Esoda, 18, was drinking alcohol when he lost control and flipped his pick-up truck early Friday outside Leesville High School, critically injuring a student.
A search warrant obtained by WRAL indicates Esoda's blood alcohol content was .08, the legal limit for anyone age 21 and older.
Ian Anthony Bunn, 17, was ejected from the truck when it overturned. He suffered massive head trauma and was listed in fair condition Sunday at Rex Hospital. Esoda and other passengers weren't seriously injured.
Police had already charged Esoda with a provisional DWI, the charge for anyone underage with alcohol in their system. He was also charged with felony serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving.
