RALEIGH, N.C. — Flames forced residents from Six Forks Station Apartments off Stockbridge Circle early Thursday. No one was injured.

The fire started around 3:30 a.m. at 8809 Stockbridge Circle. Flames left heavy damage in one apartment and water damaged another apartment, according to fire officials.

Many residents were forced to leave as the fire raged. Most were allowed back in by 5 a.m.

Sheet rock and the firefighters' quick response kept the fire from spreading further, officials said. The apartment complex does not have sprinklers.

There was no word on what caused the fire. No other information was available.
