RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said a man found dead in a car Wednesday night was the victim of a homicide.

Someone called 911 around 10:30 p.m. and reported that the vehicle had crashed in a residential area in the 7200 block of Parott Drive in northeast Raleigh.

When officers arrived, they found that the 1996 Cadillac had hit a mailbox and ended up in a ditch. Calvin Eric Dae Jr, 21, was inside, police said.

Investigators on Thursday collected evidence near the area where the body was found, but authorities declined to provide any details.

A resident living in the neighborhood, who said he called 911, said he found a man lying in the front seat facing the back of the car. Blood was everywhere, he said, and the man was dead.

"It didn't look right to me," said the resident, who asked not to be identified. "From what I saw, the wreck and the car – I couldn’t tell where the blood came from."

Police ask that anyone with information about the case to contact the Raleigh Police Department at 919-996-3555 or Crime Stoppersa t 919-226-CRIME.
