Co-worker reported woman's death at Raleigh group home
A co-worker called 911 Friday morning and reported that he found 44-year-old Rebecca Ezeoha Thompkins face-down in a bath tub and covered in blood.
Posted — UpdatedThompkins was found shortly after 6 a.m. Friday at the home, at 113 Dickens Drive, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Thompkins was a direct care worker at the home, Executive Director Curtis Bass said in a statement late Saturday.
The department’s Major Crime Task Force is leading the investigation.
No other information was available. Authorities said it may be next week before further information can be provided.
Residents around the group home said they hope they find out what happened soon.
"I just feel like with this being a neighborhood with a lot of kids around, why can't we know something? That way we don't just feel worried," Nicole Greene said.
Since the possibility of suspicious circumstances exists, anyone who might have potentially relevant information about the deceased person is asked to contact the RPD’s Detective Division at 919-996-3555.
Residents at the group home were transferred to homes of family members or other facilities and are all safe, Bass said.
