Detectives with the Cumberland County Sherriff's Office arrested a suspect in a double shooting that killed one man and seriously injured a second man Friday night.

Kevin Miguel Hutchinson, 26, of 337 Crest Circle, Spring Lake, was charged Saturday with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.

Terence Daniel Small, 23, of Fayetteville, was found dead in a parked car along Shaw Mill and Murchison roads around 11 p.m. Friday. Investigators said he apparently died from a gunshot wound. They did not disclose the location of the wound.

Michael Leonard Woodard Jr., 28, of Fayetteville, was wounded by gunfire, investigators said. Woodard was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by ambulance. Authorities did not comment on his condition.

Initial reports indicated that the victims were driven to a Quick and Go gas station along Murchinson Road.

Investigators have not disclosed the location of the shooting or released more details about the case but said they are continuing to their probe.

Hutchinson was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday.

In 2002, Hutchinson was convicted of a 1997 armed robbery in Cumberland County, according to state Department of Correction records. He served 3 years and 8 months in prison.
