Learn more about Kramden Institute

The Kramden Institute is a charitable organization whose mission is to help less-advantaged students bridge the 'digital divide' by locating and refurbishing used/recycled computers to donate to kids who work hard in school, but cannot afford home computers.

Since 2003, Kramden has placed about 3,000 computers in the homes of students.

How your donations are used:

It costs...

  • $65 to refurbish one computer for a child in need
  • $10 to recycle unusable monitor and computer donations
  • $140 to provide a computer give-away day for a local school

Upcoming event:

Geek-A-Thon/Award Day

Feb. 21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at 4915 Prospectus Drive, Suite J, in Durham

Volunteers refurbish computers and award them in one day. You do not have to be "techie" to get involved.
