Fire strikes Wilson County flea market building

Wilson County emergency crews battled a fire Thursday morning at a building at Mildred's Flea Market, 3122 U.S. Highway 301 S.

A shed full of snacks was "fully engulfed" in fire around 6 a.m., according to officials. Crews extinguished the fire by 7:20 a.m.

Authorities estimated that the shed sustained $1,000 worth of damage. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire was unknown.

I can't believe I got a "breaking news" e-mail on a $1,000 fire?

I remember the days of having to go through Wilson from G-Ville to Raleigh and back before the 264 Bypass was built. I definately don't miss those days....

Dear Doug,

I promise I didn't complain...by the looks of that "flea market", the place itself was an insult to Wilson! And so is hwy 301...awful and dangerous area.
