FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police found a missing 2-year-old boy and arrested his uncle early Saturday after issuing an Amber Alert for him Friday night.

The boy, Dillon Jordan Cromartie, was unharmed when police found him in the University Apartments, on Waterless Street, around 2:45 a.m.

Officers stopped a white BMW driven by Dillon's uncle, Lee David Curie, 60, who was a suspect in the boy's abduction. Currie told them where to find Dillon.

Police took the 2-year-old home to his parents.

Currie was charged with driving while impaired, a land violation and driving with a revoked license.

Police said they continued to investigate the incident and had not decided whether to file more charges against Currie. Currie's familial relationship to Dillon and the severity of the incident are factors in making that decision, investigators said.

Dillon's family reported him as missing late Friday afternoon, Fayetteville police said. The alleged abduction occurred at 8243 Umstead Drive Thursday.

Family members told police Currie has a history of abusing illegal narcotics. He has convictions for possession of drugs with intent to sell, larceny, forgery and embezzlement going back to 1987 in Cumberland County, according to state Department of Correction records.
