FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — For many, this is a three-day weekend and there’s plenty to do with the family and to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.

On Saturday, the 19th Annual MLK Parade will take place in downtown Fayetteville. The parade starts at noon at the Medical Arts Building on Hay St. The route then goes up Murchison Rd and ends at Seabrook Park and Langdon St. There will be a viewing stand across from Fayetteville State University on Coley St.

On Sunday, Fascinate-U Children’s Museum will celebrate its 10th birthday. Admission to the museum will be free from noon to 5pm. A party will start at 2pm, with face painting, arts and crafts and refreshments. The museum is located at 116 Green St. in downtown Fayetteville.

On Monday, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum presents “The Integration of the 82nd Airborne” at 1pm. Admission is free but is limited to the first 250 people.

Also on Monday, Fayetteville State University will present a free concert in tribute to the late Dr. King. There will be performances by the FSU Concert Choir and Dance Troupe, as well as a play based on the Birmingham bombings from 1963. The event is at 7pm at Seabrook Auditorium on FSU’s campus.
