Crashes involving Cherry Point-based Harrier aircraft

The following crashes have occurred at or near Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point or involved AV-8 Harrier aircraft assigned to Cherry Point's 2nd Marine Air Group.

The following crashes have occurred at or near Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point or involved AV-8 Harrier aircraft assigned to Cherry Point's 2nd Marine Air Group.

A two-seat Harrier assigned to Cherry Point crashed crashed May 15, 2008, while on a training mission at the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range southeast of Yuma, Ariz. Both pilots ejected safely.

A Harrier crashed Dec. 6, 2005 near Jacksonville, Fla. The plane from Marine Attack Training Squadron 203 went down in the Atlantic. The pilot survived.

A Harrier based at Cherry Point crashed into the ocean on July 16, 2003, about 40 miles off Atlantic Beach. The pilot was treated at the base hospital and released.

An AV-8B Harrier II of Marine Attack Squadron 231 from Cherry Point crashed in Pamlico Sound on July 22, 2002. The pilot ejected safely.

A Harrier crashed on Feb. 3, 2001, at Cherry Point, killing an instructor and student pilot.

A Harrier crashed at Cherry Point on Feb. 16, 1996, killing the pilot.
