ERWIN, N.C. — Police have identified the person who they say robbed an Erwin home while the occupant was hospitalized – the victim's daughter.

While Linda Mason, of North 12th Street, was in Chapel Hill for cancer treatment, someone stole all of her Christmas decorations, including the tree, police said.

On Monday, police arrested Mason's daughter, Heather Mason Calderon, and charged her with the crime.

Calderdon, 35, of Old Stage Road in Coats, is charged with felony breaking and entering to commit larceny. She was also served with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for another breaking and entering charge.

Calderon was being held in the Harnett County Jail under $12,000 bond.

Mason reported that in addition to holiday decorations, the thief took sheets off her bed and food from her cupboard. "I don't have nothing there," she said after the robbery.

Mason was staying with another daughter in Mount Olive while the investigation continues.

Hank Hairr, interim chief of police for Erwin, said more arrests in the case are possible.
