Elon, N.C. — Breanna Carrie Detwiler, a senior at Elon University, is one of 12 2009-2010 George H. Mitchell Scholars.
The award funds one year of postgraduate study at Ireland's University College Cork and is named for the former United States Senator who helped broker a peace accord in Northern Ireland.
Detwiler will pursue a master’s degree in law before returning to the United States to continue her legal education.
Detwiler is an Elon University Honors Fellow and a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She majors in environmental studies and plans to study environmental law.
Detwiler is a Virginia native.
