— Authorities overnight Wednesday arrested a man who was wanted in a fatal shooting in downtown Roxboro on Monday.

Matthew Long, 20, surrendered to investigators at a McDonald's in Hillsborough.

Police had issued warrants late Monday charging Long with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Frederick Lamont Satterfield was killed and Greg Pulliam was wounded Monday in a shooting in front of Yesterday's Interiors, 124 S. Main St., near the Person County Courthouse, police said.

Pulliam was treated at Duke University Hospital and released, police said.

Despite witness statements that suggested the shooting started as a courtroom altercation, police said they believe a long-standing feud was the motive for the shooting.

Investigators haven't been able to establish a link between the shooting and the courthouse, police said.

uncgirl1059, your stated "facts" certainly weren't in this story when we were all commenting. And you said "If you don't know if it is self defense then you shouldn't say anything" which you followed up with "This guy is a killer." So, do you nott take your own advice or do you know (you were there?) something everyone else doesn't? Just curious.

A hero how could you even say that. The guy got into a fight with him so that means he should shot him in the streets of Roxboro where other people are at. This man was a father and no one deserves to die over a stupid fight. If you don't know if it is self defense then you shouldn't say anything. Remember he has kids and they have lost their father over a fight. This guy is a killer and he showed up at the courthouse looking for him so how is it self defense. Maybe you should get your facts straight before commenting.

DebtFree, I intrepreted the story to mean that he gave himself up. The article said he "surrendered to investigators at a McDonald's in Hillsborough." I see your side too. Who knows?

Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumbbbbbbb... Why would you be out and about--at McDonalds if you KNOW the cops are looking for you? How can you sleep at night knowing you shot and killed someone AND your picture is plastered all over the news? What is wrong with these kids? He's 20 so we may not be able to blame his momma as much because he's grown, but I sure would love to meet his momma and see what kind of woman raised him. Or his big momma, daddy, etc. Whoever raised him or half did the job.

Good point, twc. Since the article aludes to a "longstanding feud", it would hold to reason that this could have been self-defense and the attackers lost...unless someone here has evidence otherwise. ;-)

So folks like dogsrule12cheek may want to hold off judgement...and maybe take a basic grammar class with comments like "he dont" [sic].

Another project for barber and the naacp. But in this case this guy might actually be a hero. We won't know until the evidence is in.

This 20-year old kid has two outcomes he could get. One... He could get the Death Penalty. or Two... He gets to start liking boys for a very long time. I believe I would take the Death Penalty.

He needs to work busting rocks into gravel long enough to pay the medical bills and other expenses he has caused and then should be hung on the courthouse square on the next Saturday morning.
