Durham, N.C. — The Orange County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into the deaths of two men whose bodies were found inside a home off U.S. Highway 70 early Saturday.
A woman called 911 at 9:07 a.m. to report discovering a body at 5704 U.S. 70 East, Investigator Chad P. McDade said. Deputies found two bodies inside the house, which has a Durham City address but is in Orange County.
EMS personnel responded but cleared the scene before 11 a.m., while deputies remained.
Deputies withheld the victims' names, pending notification of family.
A third man who lived in the home where the bodies were found told WRAL News the victims were a 31-year-old man and 49-year-old man. He said that he and the victims had grown up in Durham and were roommates.
The man, who did not give his name, said that someone broke down the front door early Saturday and shot one of the victims. He said he was unsure what killed the other victim.
The investigation was ongoing.
