LOUISBURG, N.C. — An employee of the town of Louisburg has been arrested in the fatal shooting of another man Friday night.

Water and Sewer Department employee Derrick Crudup and Darryl Collins argued earlier that day about a 4-wheeler being driven on someone else's property, Louisburg Police Chief Rick Lassiter said.

The two men and several other people met in the parking lot of a barber shop at 217 S. Main St. shortly after midnight Friday, Lassiter said. Crudup displayed a firearm and fired three to four shots at Collins.

Collins was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

Officers arrested Crudup a few hours later. He remained in custody Saturday afternoon.

Officers continue to investigate and interview witnesses, Lassiter said.
