The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is searching for two men that it believes shot another man Friday night.

Deputies said Leslie O'Neill Day was shot at a house on Shields Commissary Road in Scotland Neck around 9 p.m. The two shooters were armed with a shotgun.

Day was transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses said the shooters fled the scene on foot and ran through a cotton field behind the house toward Kehukie Baptist Church on Sherman Drive. Deputies said the two men might have gotten into a vehicle parked nearby and left the area.

Investigators said the two men should have a lot of red clay on their shoes.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Halifax County Sheriff's Office at 252-583-8521 or Crime Stoppers at 252-583-4444. Callers to Crime Stoppers never have to identify themselves.

Wow! Halifax County is "red" dirt. Thats all you see mainly and you dont have to be in Scotland Neck. Those men are long gone. Or do we question every person we see which is the majority.
