    JAT... exactly

  • JAT Sep 23, 2008

I think it's just a case of people being too willing to say the kid's not at danger because he's with a female/his mom vs. a man/his dad. There are just as abusive and dangerous moms out there as there are dads.

Obviously, there's something that made law enforcement think the child is in danger. Either, the mother isn't custodial, or someone saw something, or she's been known to do things like this in the past, etc.

  • boomylar Sep 23, 2008

well that could be the case too, but i don't think they would issue an amber alert if the father *whos not with him* was abusive

Punisher - yes, it meets all guidelines.

The 2 weren't just lost in the parking lot at the mall. There is obviously a reason that the mother is not supposed to have custody of the child. And, because she has now abducted him from the person who is supposed to have the child, it is reasonable to assume he's in imminent danger.

for all anyone knows, she is trying to protect the child from an abusive father, why do you assume she is nutty??

JAT - here's the guidelines, decide for yourself if it meets it or not, from http://www.amberalert.gov/guidelines.htm

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria

    * There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
    * The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
    * There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
    * The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
    * The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

Punisher - how do you know that? How do you know child is not in danger?

  • boomylar Sep 23, 2008

    iron fist:
i had said that "what if" she had mental problems or if she wasn't supossed to have him. Just bc every one was saying that the amber alert was being abused... the whole story isn't here, so one one has the right to judge weather or not they should have issued the alert.

Did I miss something? I didn't see where the mother wasn't supposed to have him. Or she was nutty. There is much more to this story. I hope and pray they find them BOTH safe.
