FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A tractor-trailer fire in Fayetteville backed up traffic and closed two northbound lanes on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning.

Shawn Gouveia was driving his tractor-trailer, with his wife sleeping nearby, when his right front tire blew, causing sparks that started a fire.

"I pulled over to the corner ... woke (my wife) up, got out of the truck and dialed 911," Gouveia said. "The tire blew and the fire took over the whole truck."

Gouveia's truck sat burning near Highway 87 until emergency officials could arrive.

He and his wife, who own the Werner Enterprises truck, were traveling from Florida to North Carolina. They were not injured.
