Durham, N.C. — A man surrendered to Durham police early Monday, several hours after he had barricaded himself in an apartment.
The man’s live-in girlfriend called police at 12:51 a.m. and said he had threatened to shoot her and other members of her family.
Rey David Acosta Cruz, 36, of 1700 Chapel Hill Road, barricaded himself in his apartment.
Negotiators were able to contact him on his cell phone, and he surrendered at 3:35 a.m.
Investigators charged Cruz with communicating threats and with resisting, delaying and obstructing officers. Investigators searched his apartment. No weapons were found.
